Currently, most of my work is in Fortran and relates to ocean model simulations, primarily to support climate research. But I also end up doing a lot in Python and Bash.
I did performance analysis of scientific models for many years, and still do a bit of that when the need arises. Prior to that, I provided modeling services for ocean model research scientists.
Once upon a time, I did a bit of research in physical oceanography, mostly related to the fluid dynamics of the ocean. It still gets cited from time to time, so I guess it wasn't horrible.
And in the deep past, I did C and assembly programming for video game consoles. Sometimes I even got paid!
