Editing several numbers at once in a way that will keep their ordering and format (e.g. binary, octal, hex) unaltered.

Vim can edit numbers across different lines in an ordered fashion. For example, it can add or subtract a count from several list elements at once.

Vim also understands different number formats and edits each format accordingly to its rules:

  • binary numbers, starting with 0b or 0B
  • hexadecimal numbers, starting with 0x or 0X
  • octal numbers, staring with a leading zero
  • and decimal numbers, starting with [1-9]

It can also understand alphabetical characters as numbers.
