My answer in https://vi.stackexchange.com/a/18064/19950 shows the current predicament I face, where I used cmd.exe and the following code

ftype VimFile="C:\Program Files (x86)\Vim\vim81\gvim.exe"
assoc .extension=VimFile

To set gVim as my default editor for .extension (specifically, .vim and .tex).

HOWEVER this gives me extra work to do once gVim opens, since the file does not open automatically; rather, the directory of the file is opened in NERDTree, and I have to choose said file again. How can I tinker with the cmd.exe commands so that both the directory in NERDTree and the chosen file can be opened at the same time, without further input?
