I just saw on the help page that <C-u> may be more usefull as it deletes all the characters on the new line

Ctrl+w is "standard Vim" ;-) See: :help i_CTRL-W . And pressing it twice seems to do the trick as well?

Sweet, I didn't know about the Ctrl-w use in insert-mode. But the Carpetsmoker♦ is still quicker. Thus the default binding of `Ctrl-\`doesn't seems that useful.
