How to display properly fontawesomeFont Awesome in vimVim?

I installed ttf-font-awesome in arch linux. OnceArch Linux; if I open up my i3configa file which contains icons from Font awesome it recognizes the file as utf-8 but the icons from the installed font are displayed as squares. Does anyone know how to fix this?
